报告简介:Aggregation of Aβ protein to form amyloid plaques is a pathological hallmark of Alzheimer’s disease, a fatal neurodegenerative disorder that affects a large portion of elderly population. Strong evidence supports a central role of Aβ oligomers in the pathogenesis of Alzheimer’s disease. Aβ oligomers are toxic to neurons and may cause loss of synapses and neuronal death, leading to dementia. The mechanism by which Aβ oligomers are formed and the structure of Aβ oligomers are still unknown. In this presentation, I will discuss our recent studies on the structure of Aβ oligomers and fibrils, and the mechanism of Aβ aggregation resulting in the formation of Aβ oligomers and fibrils.
