Position Title: Postdoctoral Research Fellow
§ Department: Physiology and Oklahoma Center for Neuroscience
§ Description: A Post-Doctoral Fellow position is available in the
laboratory of Beverley Greenwood-Van Meerveld, Ph.D. within the
Department of Physiology and Oklahoma Center for Neuroscience at the
University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. My laboratory focuses
on the neuronal mechanisms linking stress-induced visceral pain to
irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). Two key projects in the laboratory
that are of particular importance are i) the effect of early life
stress on abdominal pain in adulthood, and ii) the role of the
amygdala in stress-induced visceral pain. To do so, we study rat
models of stress and its effect on visceral pain using behavioral,
pharmacological, molecular and imaging techniques. The University of
Oklahoma Health Sciences Center provides post-doctoral fellows with a
unique opportunity to develop a wide variety of skills and the
research performed in my laboratory serves to bridge the gap between
basic and translational research to enhance the understanding of
gastrointestinal diseases.
§ Requirements: We are seeking a highly motivated individual with a
strong background in epigenetics, who is capable of generating and
publishing high quality data. The candidate must have a Ph.D. with
strong bench laboratory experience, and a proven track record in
molecular techniques and working. The successful candidate must have
strong written communication skills and must be able to effectively
communicate in English.
§ Additional Information (including how to apply): Please send an
email to Beverley-Greenwood@ouhsc.edu for details.
