Postdoctoral fellow position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Qi Cao in the Center for Inflammation and Epigenetics at Houston Methodist Research Institute. The focus of Dr. Cao’s laboratory is to elucidate the role of epigenetic modifications in prostate and breast cancer initiation/progression, utilizing both in vitro and in vivo model systems.
Dr. Cao’s laboratory has extensively characterized the functions of epigenetic modifiers from the Polycomb Repressive Complex (PRC) in both prostate and breast cancer. Specifically, we identified the contributions of EZH2 and EED to prostate and breast cancer progression with detailed mechanisms. The candidate will dissect the functions of epigenetic modifiers in cancer, using state of the art equipment.
The ideal postdoctoral fellow candidate should have experience in molecular biology, cell culture, imaging, and mouse xenograft. The position will continue to focus on developing the skills necessary to obtain grants and scientific publications and become an independent Investigator.
The candidate should possess the following criteria:
1 PhD and/or MD/PhD
2 Evidence of first author peer-reviewed publications
3 Prior molecular and/or cancer biology experience and evidence of project development
4 Animal work/or drug treatment/or surgery
5 Excellent communication and writing skills.
Prospective candidates should be highly motivated, enthusiastic about science, with an ability to think creatively and independently. Candidate should demonstrate good organizational skills and be able to work independently and in a team environment. Recent Ph.D. recipients are strongly encouraged to apply.
